the other runs from slavery. As Samuel and his family journeys
through the underground railroad, he learns of the past and his
connection to Captain Newton. Captain Newton himself faces his own
conscience of having a ship full of slaves one of them whom is
Samuel's grandfather. Both men's spirit and faith will be tested,
what future is the new world going to be for them?
Peter
Cousens' Freedom (2014) is based on a true story. Samuel is a
slave and journeys North with his family through the Underground
Railroad, but he is completely jaded by society and white men who
that always look at them as not a man, but a lesser man. As he
journeys North he is aided by various people who work the underground
railroad and is moved by those who is willing to risk and die for
their freedom and begins to change his views. He is connected to
Captain Newton by a Bible passed down from Samuel's grandfather whom
received it from Captain Newton, Captain Newton a hundred years
earlier faces his own conscience when he foresees and realizes the
misery that his slave ship is creating for generations to come.
This
movie is about man's inhumanity to man, how one man can be a slave
and how another can treat him as thus. It reminds people of how the
slaves kept their hope through their songs and the song help kept
their faith in God, and that God will lead them to freedom one day.
The
anamorphically enhanced image and lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 sound are
so good here, that this release is just asking for a Blu-ray version,
but this plats back well. A trailer is oddly the only extra.
