Tooken
is a parody of the Taken trilogy starring Liam Neeson and is
your enjoyment will be based primarily on whether or not you are into
spoofs of many films. Up there with the likes of Scary Movie,
this film is about as dumb as you can get. The film is full of sex,
nudity, and violence and of course the main plot line of Taken
just outrageously off beat. There's also a bit piece that references
the other Liam Neeson film 'Non-Stop' that actually did make me
laugh. This is not Mel Brooks material here, though, folks - this
film is pretty dumb.
Bryan
Mills (Lee Tergesen) is an ex-CIA agent now working as a mall
security guard. He keeps finding his things are being taken from him
his wife, his dog...his daughter's virginity. With the help of his
ex-CIA elderly mother, Bryan battles his nemesis BrownFinger
(Margaret Cho) to free his family and a pound of dogs in danger of
exploding. Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, and Reno Wilson.
After
reading the plot, it should give you a pretty good idea of what you
are in for with this one. Presented in standard definition with
anamorphic widescreen with a 2.35:1 aspect ratio and a lossy Dolby
Digital 5.1 track, the film looks as good as it can on the DVD format
and could benefit from a Blu-ray upgrade.
Extras
include Behind-the-Scenes Featurette, "Cribs" Spoof
with Reno Wilson and Deleted Scenes.
Nothing
much else to say about this over-the-top spoof, it was a little too
silly for me but if you are a fan of Taken or some of the
actors involved and are curious then give it a spin.
