Tanked:
Season 2 (2012/Discovery Channel/Cinedigm DVD)

Tanked is an
interesting and fun show packed full of talent on Animal Planet where
we get to check out the operations of a Las Vegas based company
called Acrylic Tank Manufacturing, owned by brothers-in-law Brett
Raymer and Wayde King. ATM bills itself as the world's largest
manufacturer of customized and pretty incredible Aquarium
installations. In addition, Wayde's wife/Brett's sister
Heather is the company's accountant and Heather and Brett's father
Irwin Raymer (also known as The General) is the office manager and
comic relief. Other regulars on the show include Shop Manager Robert
(Robbie Redneck) Christlieb and sales coordinator Agnes Wilczynski.
Originally airing in 2012, Season Two is now on DVD and looks
great the format, matching broadcast quality on disc.
There are 8 episodes on
the disc starting with the series premiere episode, Fish Out of
Water, where Wayde and Brett are back home in New York to see a
long-time client to discuss the installation of a shark tank for his
recently built orthodontist office and we get to take a look at a
display tank for an appliance store. In the second episode, my
personal favorite is called Old School vs New School where a
pinball-machine tank is created for an arcade-game enthusiast in
Chicago (totally want this if I get rich one day!) and a tank for a
robotics-systems company in Massachusetts that is pretty darn
impressive.
Serenity Now is
the season's third episode where we get to see a badass tank for a
tattoo parlor in Las Vegas is created in an effort to soothe nervous
customers and we take a gander at a show piece for a furniture store
in North Carolina. The next episode is called Roll With It
where The Pensacola Blue Wahoos ask Wayde and Brett to turn an old
school bus into a mobile fish tank, but they have to change plans
when they learn they can't pay for it which is pretty interesting and
Brett comes up with a unique tank design for his mother's favorite
nail salon.
Episode five is
entitled Tanks for the Memories, and is a sort of recap
episode where the crew discuss their favorite tanks and pranks from
Season 1 and feature some unseen footage. Polar Opposites is
another good one where The hosts head to the Valley View Casino in
California to build a 35 ft. (10.7 m) long marquee tank within a
strictly specified amount of time; the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino
Minus 5 Ice Bar in Las Vegas has the guys in the deep freeze
constructing a jellyfish tank. Most Challenging Tanks is an
interesting episode too where we find out some of the team's hardest
to assemble products and finally, Where the Wild Things Are is
the season finale where Wayde and Brett Have to come up with a tanked
first when they incorporate all of what Petco has to offer in
building them a three part tank for their headquarters. Also, they
get to build a tank built for Rock Legends KISS!
While there are no
extras on the disc, the episodes are presented in standard definition
with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio and a lossy Dolby
Digital 2.0 track. The show looks fine on disc, comparable to the
original broadcast.
If you are an aquatic
fan of fish tanks then this is a must see!
