Jessica
(Lilly-Fleur Pointeaux), a young beautiful girl returning to her
family's estate for her grandmother's funeral, but that is when her
nightmares begin, she is a haunted and tormented by the horsehead
monster. As she drifts between sleep and the awake, reality blurs to
the point where she can no longer tell if she is dreaming or is she
awake. And when she begins to discover the meaning behind her
dreams, dark secrets begin to emerge. Jessica is also a troubled
young lady with the same nightmare that said to drove her grandmother
mad in Romaine Basset's Horsehead (2014).
Her
family comes from a old traditional family in which her
grandfather was considered very 'old testament'. Her beauty is
considered more as curse than a blessing. Out-casted and shunned by
her family long ago she left years ago, but now returning she is
assaulted by nightmares of her grandmother who is trying to warn her
and of the lustful eyes of her relatives. As she dives more into her
dreams, she learns of an even darker secret her family has been
hiding from her.
How
creepy would it be if your grandfather and grandmother looked like an
older brother and sister and your mother looked more like the
grandmother? This was your old school biblical horror movie, when
people once believed torture and pain was the way to redeem for their
sin. Unfortunately, it was a male dominated tradition, which then
allowed the men of the household to psychological traumatize, beat
and control the women. It was considered a woman's fault for causing
lust in the men if they were too beautiful. The Horsehead monster
was the symbol for the church and it's traditions. Wild.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image is surprisingly strong
in this era of degraded images for horror films, while the
DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix has a consistent, well
mixed and recorded soundfield, even if it cannot match the picture.
Extras include Inside the
Making of Horsehead, 4 short films and trailer.
