After
being murdered, a young girl is resurrected to find and catch her
killer. As she remembers her past, she learns to use her various new
powers and abilities, she is teamed up with Oeufcoque, a universal
shapeshifting, self-aware tool/weapon/partner that can turn into
anything she needs. But if a killer can erase and replace his own
memories, can he be still held responsible ...or is he innocent?
Thus begins Mardock Scramble: The Trilogy (2010 - 2012).
Rune
Balot was murdered and then brought back to life for a military
experiment/test to see if 'Forbidden Technology' can be used to serve
justice. Along with super speed, strength and durability she was
given Oeufcoque, a living weapon that can turn into anything she
needs (but usually is a form of a golden mouse or gun). As she gets
closer to the truth, she discover why she was killed, but was her
killer really a psychopath or just another victim like her? In the
future, the rich, elite and corrupt can have their memories just as
easily erased and replaced, Rune must search for the hidden copies of
their memories in order to prove them guilty. However, those
memories are guarded by an army of their elite assassins and killers
for hire.
This
was an action packed, sci-fi mystery murder anime and all three films
are here in two versions. While the ideas were cool and the action
scenes exciting, it does raise one question, if you HAD that kind
advance 'forbidden technology' why not just use it to spy, control,
wire tap the crooks and bad guys instead of facing off with them?
Either way, this is a solid collection for all fans to enjoy.
The
1080p 1.78 X 1 digital high definition image is not perfect, but it
is consistent with all versions of the films, while for sound, we get
a rare, lossless DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 mix from Sentai on all
versions of said films. These mixes are fine, tough they can be more
laid back than expected throughout. Extras include clean opening and
closing animations and trailers.
