The
End Is HERE!
Dread
Central presents Zombieworld (2014), which is an anthology
film mash-up of several different zombie shorts that occur all over
the world (and passages of time) where the undead have resurfaced to
drink the blood of the living. Some shorts are better than others,
as with any anthology film, including one in the first act that
stands out - involving Jesus battling the undead and a few faux
commercials that tell you how to survive the zombie apocalypse with
tips that aren't too far off from Sony's Zombieland from 2009,
reviewed elsewhere on this site.
The
closest thing the film has to a narrator is a TV News anchor who is
increasingly becoming more and more infected as the film progresses.
There are several segments that rely on point of view shots - in many
instances the main character gets eaten and some get more creative
than others. Some parts of the film are more comedy and some parts
more raw horror.
Picture
and Sound are standard for DVD and nothing to really write home
about. Presented in standard definition with an anamorphically
enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen aspect ratio and a lossy Dolby Digital 5.1
audio track, the film could definitely benefit from a Blu-ray disc
upgrade. Only extra is a short film entitled Marathon Apocalypse.
If
you're hungry for more zombie carnage, there are some moments in this
that aren't terrible but all in all it's a one timer.
