In
an age where the strong oppressed the weak, the nobility and the rich
steals from the common people, forcing the people to become bandits
and bandits to become heroes, the Kundo. As the government continues
to steal the land, the food and turn it's people into slaves, the
Kundo continues to grow stronger and steal back from the rich to give
to the poor. One man, Dachi is such a man, after losing his family,
his land and nearly dying he fights to strike back at the head of the
corrupted government, the evil Prince Jo Yoon.
In
Jong-bin Yun's Kundo
(2014), Dolmuchi was just an ordinary butcher until he choose to
spare the life of Prince Jo Yoon's pregnant sister-in-law and the
rightful heir. After being burned alive, Dolmuchi somehow manages to
survive and become Dachi, the most feared bandit of the Kundo. The
Kundo are made up of others who were like Dachi, survivors from the
government who were also used, abuse and then left for dead. After 2
year of training, Dachi leads the Kundo to save the people from the
government's tyranny.
I
have to say this about Korean movies ...they love movies about
government oppression and peasant revolutions. That ALL that
governments are are really is villains replacing one another and when
that happens people SHOULD kill government officials. It was like a
Korean version of Robin Hood and this was as good as any of them.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image is up there among Well
Go's best Korean releases, while the DTS-HD Master Audio (MA)
lossless Korean 5.1 is solid and consistent, but narration and other
front-heavy elements hold the soundfield back a bit. Extras include
trailers.
