The
51st Shade of Grey...
Dark
Sky Films presents the documentary Kink where Director
Christina Voros and Producer James Franco (Yes, that James
Franco) pull back the curtain on the fetish empire of Kink.com, the
Internet's largest producer of BDSM content (for now). In a
particularly obscure corner of an industry that is hidden out of
public view, Kink.com's producers, directors and models go for
realism over exploitation. They want to make the allegedly
misunderstood subculture as safe as possible, but are they fighting a
losing battle?
While
the film aims at making the lovers of this special interest
fascinating and charismatic, the true is that this subject is pretty
taboo and a little silly for those that aren't interested. If this
pain brings you pleasure then this is definitely the documentary for
you - it is well made with decent production value but just not for
me personally.
Presented
in standard definition with anamorphically enhanced widescreen aspect
ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossy Dolby Digital 2.0 track, the film looks
fine on DVD but could definitely benefit from a Blu-ray upgrade. No
extras on the disc with the exception of a Trailer.
