Soul Is Safe..
Stop
me if you've heard this one before - a doll possessed by an evil
bitter spirit is a bloodthirsty murderer or is it a little girl
blaming it on the doll? Scaringly similar to Child's
Play,
Annabelle,
and other creepy doll movies, Finders
Keepers
isn't very stylized, scary, hardly every gory nor very original.
Separated
from her husband, Alyson Simon (Jamie Pressley) and her 9 year old
daughter Claire move into a new house away from the city.
Unbeknownst to them, the house was once a murder scene when the
10-year-old son of the previously tenants murdered his entire family.
(Maybe due to the evil doll?) Begrudgingly settling into her new
home, Claire finds a tatty looking doll under the floorboards and
instantly falls in love with it though of course Alyson has her
doubts because the doll is pretty damn creepy.
As
the days and weeks wear on, Alyson notices her daughter acting
strange and Claire's obsession with the doll becomes serious. When
dead bodies start turning up, Alyson and her estranged husband
Jonathan realize that the doll may be to blame as they fight for
their lives and the life of their daughter...
The
film stars Jamie Pressly, Kylie Rogers, and Tobin Bell and is
directed by Alexander Yellen.
The
presentation on the disc is in standard definition with an
anamorphically enhanced widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and a lossy
Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track that is standard for the DVD format.
Extras are scarce including a Behind the Scenes and a Stills Gallery.
For
a SyFy channel-esque movie, this film isn't bad but will it achieve
cult classic status? No.
