My
Uncle Rafael (2012/TNP Films/MVD DVD)
Picture:

After
about ten minutes of this poor attempt at a romantic comedy you'll be
saying Uncle Uncle! A budding young producer (Rachel Blanchard)
persuades Rafael to star in her first project, a TV pilot about an
Armenian uncle who must help a soon-to-be-divorced couple; the woman
is about to remarry a sketchy lawyer.
Rafael,
who is universally tolerated or beloved, works to solve everyone's
concerns, preaches the importance of love and responsibility and
reconnects with his go-getter son (also played by Mr. Pirhamzei).
The
cast is a professional bunch with recognizable faces (the highlight
being Tim Burton regular character actor Missi Pyle as the woman, and
funny guy Joe Lo Truglio as a priest). The film suffers from
mediocre acting, old age makeup, and cinematography and the bottom
line: it just isn't that funny.
Sound
and Picture on the disc is average with a standard definition
transfer with a 1.85:1 widescreen anamorphic aspect ratio and a lossy
Dolby Digital 5.1 track.
Extras
include a Trailer, Behind The Scenes, Photo Gallery, and Deleted
Scenes.
