Timothy
Olyphant explodes in the fifth season of Justified on Blu-ray,
which is a must see if you are a fan of Westerns, Crime Dramas and
shows like Deadwood, Walker: Texas Ranger or even Rawhide.
After U.S Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) finds himself in
hot water over the shooting of a Miami crime boss, he is reassigned
to the last place on Earth he'd rather be; Harlan County, Kentucky,
where he was born and raised. There he must deal with his ex-wife,
criminal father, an old friend turned white supremacist, and the
latter's former sister-in-law who quickly rekindles her attraction to
Givens. Kentucky won't be the same now that the cowboy marshal is
home.
The
show stars Olyphant, Jeremy Davides, Raymond J. Barry, Walton
Goggins, and Nick Searcy to name a few. The 13 episode season was
developed by Graham Yost based on Elmore Leonard's novels Pronto
and Riding
the Rap,
plus his short story Fire
in the Hole.
Its main character is Raylan Givens, a deputy U.S. Marshall which we
have learned much about in the amazing run of previous seasons,
mostly reviewed elsewhere on this site. Olyphant portrays Givens
without compromise, a tough federal lawman, enforcing his own brand
of justice in his Kentucky hometown. The series is set in the city
of Lexington, Kentucky, and the hill country of eastern Kentucky,
specifically in and around Harlan. We won't go into spoilers, though
watching the show from the debut season delivers the best impact.
Episodes
this time include: - A Murder of Crowes, The Kids Aren't All
Right, Good Intentions, Over The Mountain, Shot All To Hell, Kill The
Messenger, Raw Deal, Whistle Past The Graveyard, Wrong Roads, Weight,
The Toll, Starvation, and finally Restitution.
Sound
and Picture on the disc are nearly flawless with a 1080p high
definition transfer with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio to match the original
broadcast and a super sharp English lossless DTS-HD Master Audio (MA)
5.1 track on each episode that tests the limits of your home surround
system. Subtitles on the disc are in English, English SDH, and
French.
As
far as extras go, Justified: The Complete Fifth Season doesn't
disappoint with insightful supplements that span across all three
discs, including featurettes, deleted scenes, and audio commentaries
for select episodes. Episodes are also featured with optional recaps
if you are a little behind on the series. A UV digital copy code is
included in the case.
