Tyler
Perry's The Single Moms Club (2014/Lionsgate Blu-ray)

Five
working single mothers are brought together when their children get
into trouble and get placed on probation together. Together, they
inspire and support each other as the 'Single Moms Club'. Through
obstacles, love and lost they learn how to be strong, independent
woman ...AND have kids on the side.
May,
Jan, Hillary, Esperanza, and Lytia all struggling single moms, trying
to work and provide for the family. May deals with her troubled son
who's father has a drug problem. Jan is a business woman who is too
busy for her daughter. Hillary is a divorcee on alimony who's
clueless on how to be a mother. Esperanza is learning to live her
life with a all-too-mature daughter. And Lytia is a blue collared
worker at a diner trying to earn enough money to send her son to
school. All of them take turns on watching each other kids, so that
the others can have a night off.
While
I am all for the single working woman seeking to be strong and
independent, being a parent means changes. It means responsibility
in trying to make a better future for your child. Unfortunately not
all marriages work out, there are single parents. In the film, it
seems like the woman want it all, to get money from their ex's, work,
raise kids, date hot single men and to party once in a while. So I
liked it, but with reservations. Nia Long & Amy Smart head the
cast.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image has some minor blur and
detail issues, but the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is
very well recorded and more impressive than expected. Extras include
Digital Copy, Single Mom's Sisterhood featurette and a Men's Club
featurette.
