The
Junior Spy Agency (2014/Inception DVD)

Sam,
Emma and Doug, The Mystery Dog are on a case of a lost Russian
artifact that has been hidden in their town 50 years ago, but clues
leak out of the treasure, they are not the only ones who want the
artifact. The Russian embassy sends a spy to recover the lost
artifact and a group of treasure hunters/thieves also becomes
interested the priceless treasure. Can the kids out smart out smart
the spy and find the treasure before the thieves do?
Light
years away from current events, obviously, Tom Whitus' The Junior
Spy Agency (2014) would likely not be made the same way in light
of recent political events and this might be the last of its kind
comedy for a long time. Sam is a wannabe detective, but the real
brains behind the Junior Detective Agency is really Emma and Doug.
While Sam just poses and has one liners, Emma does the real thinking
and Doug the dog has the uncanny ability to be in all the right
places. Fortunately for them, the spy and thieves are not the
brightest of the bunch, but more like an old KGB agent and the 3
Stooges. All the clue and hints were basically presented to the kids
and it was more of a race to see who would get to the treasure first.
Dee Wallace also stars.
Oh,
how the mighty has fallen (character-wise and literally) Kevin Sorbo
plays as the leader of a group of thieves stealing priceless
artifacts, but with the main characters being kids playing
detectives, this was more of a kid's film, and was more comedy than
mystery. It was like movie Home Alone except with a mystery plot,
but I was amused, which is more than I can say for the weak, lossy
Dolby Digital sound and anamorphically enhanced image. There are no
extras.
