Wings: Sky Force Heroes (2014/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C Sound: C Extras: C Film: C+

Ace is a cocky rescue plane, believing he is invincible and un-stopable he tries to single handily save the day, but when his solo mission leads to disaster, he and his copilot, Fred resign to find new jobs. Ace and Fred finds a new jobs in cargo hauling with the rough and tough miners, but when a fire breaks out and the miners are trapped, can Ace have the courage to save his friends?

In Wings: Sky Force Heroes (2014), Ace is your average egotistic flyboy jockey plane, that was until he flew without orders and got his captain killed. Traumatized by his own guilt he quits the Sky Force and searches for a new job. After being fired multiple times, his last chance is working in the mines. There with the help of his friend Fred and other miner planes, he learns the importance of teamwork and knowing his place, and the good work doesn't always mean showing off.

This was your average young hero wannabe character, who learns (after a tragic accident, of course) that being a hero isn't about the glory. The characters are animated planes with their robot partners, while cute, the 3-D-like animation was not the best and looked sometimes more like polygons moving around than characters. The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image presentation and lossy Dolby Digital sound were nothing great either. Extras include bring the characters to life, minuscule bonus episodes, and trailer gallery.
