Xu
is on his way to Thailand to search for his boss to promote a
revolutionary new product, but he is tailed by a rival who other
plans for his secret formula. On the plane, he meets devil-may-care
Wang on a pilgrimage who takes him anywhere but where he wants to go,
but before the end he learns about what life's real priorities are in
Xu Zheng's Lost In Thailand (2013).
Xu
is a businessman in a failing marriage. In order to create his new
additive 'supergas', he has given up family, friends and his daughter
for the last 4 years, now finally on the verge of success all he has
to do is find his boss in Thailand and get his approval. When he
loses his passport he is joined by Wang who has his own bucket
list... After a series of accidents, fate seems to brought them
together, as they dodge a rival businessman tailing them they get
into all sorts of mischief and lose their passports and papers, but
somehow must still reach their destination.
This
was a comical film, Wang Baoqiang plays masterfully again the village
idiot with the heart of gold. As much as he gets them into hot water
and trouble, he also (somehow) save them. As his character journeys
with the Xu the businessman, the Xu wonders if he really is worth the
trouble and tries to get rid of him, but fate seems constantly brings
them back together and more insanity follows.
The
1080p 2.35 X 1 digital High Definition image transfer seems to be a
digital shoot, but looks good for a colorful comedy with good
definition and depth, while the
DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1 lossless mix is pretty good for a
joke-driven script, but all is well-recorded and we get a very
consistent soundfield throughout. Extras
include making of the film and trailers.
