The
Garretts are a model family in their small religious town community,
but when their daughter, Faith (Stephanie Bettcher) is kidnapped by
an online predator, the family, community and church is shaken and is
pushed to the breaking point. How could something like this happen
in their perfect neighborhood?
Based
on actual events, Justin Rossbacher's Finding Faith (2013) is
the story of how online sexual predation happens. Faith is tricked
by a fake online pretty boy profile (and picture) and is then
kidnapped when she agrees to meet the boy. The Internet
Crimes Against Children Task Force then has a small window of time to
find and rescue her before she lost forever in the human sex/slavery
trade. Less than 3 days later, it becomes multiple cross-state
search, but with each passing moment the community loses their faith
and innocence that they'll ever see Faith again.
This
film was funded by the Dove Foundation and the religious community,
it makes it seems internet + children getting online will lead to
loss children's innocence and the rise of sexual predators. Sex,
violence and crime has always existed (take a look at our television
shows), all technology and internet devices did was made it more
apparent and easier access to, but what it does shows is why people
should know what they are allowing their children access to. The
internet is full of information, be it true, false, fantasy, or lies
...and while most children use internet, they however are not ready
for reality, and it is because of this abuse things can end badly.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and even fuzzy at
times, but the lossy Dolby Digital sound is not bad. Extras include
introduction to Internet Safety 101, a 12 page family activity guide,
Finding Faith song and trailer.
