An
ancient relic, a treasure to infinite wealth and power. 17 year old
Mariah (Aneurin Barnard) finds himself drawn into a world of mystery
and the supernatural when his parents disappear, and his brother
Felix gets kidnapped. Following clues he journeys to a mysterious
island where the legendary treasure is buried, the Midas Box. There
he must find the clues to the treasure, save his family, and stop
evil from taking over the world in Jonathan Newman's The
Adventurer - The Curse Of The Midas Box (2013).
Mariah's
world is turned upside down when he learns his parents are guardians
of ancient relics with magical powers, their job is to prevent evil
from finding and using the Midas Box, the power to change anything to
gold. He and his brother Felix ((Xavier Atkins) unknown to them) are
left with the keys to the treasure, but when his brother gets
kidnapped he is forced to look for the Midas Box. He is also aided
by a Will Charity (Michael Sheen), another guardian and together they
must stop Otto Luger, a power hungry man who wants the Midas Box for
himself to rule the world.
This
movie was like a young Indiana Jones mixed with Harry Potter in that
a young boy must find a lost ancient relic that could destroy the
world if evil gets it's hands on it. Aside from constantly saving
his brother (which happens way too often), he is joined by others who
help him to become the adventurer and stop the forces of evil. Sam
Neill, Lena Headey, Keeley Hawes, Ian Reddington and Ioan Gruffudd
also star.
