Welcome
to Beacon Academy a school for future heroes, as four young girls are
training together to fight the force of evil. An energetic heroine,
a rich heiress, a girl with a troubled past, and a party girl,
together they are known as RWBY, but before they can even graduate,
can they survive each other?
In
the animated RWBY - Volume One, we have Ruby, a young naive,
optimistic who has always dreamed of become a heroine and she get the
chance of a life time when she is enrolled at the Huntsmen and
Huntress school of training. She is the leader and teamed up with 3
other girls, Weiss, a stuck up rich girl, Blake, a cat Faunus (cat
girl), and Yang, Ruby's older sister. Together, they learn what it
means to be a team and use their special abilities and powers to
fight the evil creatures of Grimm.
This
series is set in a world of magic, monsters and adventure, the humans
are the protectors of this world they learn co-exist with the Faunus
(other humanoid races with animal characteristics). While the
animation was fluid and design was beautiful, the animation looked
more like 2-D pictures than true 3-D, and any unimportant background
character was only a black silhouette. Overall it made the series
looked it was trying to be artistic or just too lazy to draw the
extra details.
The
1080p 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image on the Blu-ray is
preferred over the anamorphically enhanced DVD, while both formats
only offer lossy Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes when a lossless mix would
have been preferred on the Blu-ray. Extras come with behind the
scenes video, fan art, cosplay, trailers and commentary.
