Take
a look back of the last 50 years of grassroots of the environmental
movement. From saving the whales to protecting the environment from
man to industrial pollution. See how their successes and loss has
impacted the lives of today. In a world with finite resources,
society fills the energy, needs and wants of the people, but at what
cost?
Mark
Kitchell's A Fierce Green Fire (2012) is about how the Sierra
Club became a powerful movement half a century ago, with
modernization and rapid industrialization of America also increased
the need of resources and mankind changing nature to suit its needs.
The Sierra Club fought against man from abusing nature, from saving
the whales, to The Grand Canyon from being dammed up, to toxic waste
being buried under Love Canal. At the cost of destroying thousands
of years of nature, and evolution for energy in exchange for
mutations and premature infant deaths, mankind seemingly lacks the
foresight to see how he impacts the future and how it is now
effecting our planet on a larger scale.
This
film is an eye opener, it takes a look back to how industrial powers
polluted the country for profit. Even now how are we losing more of
our natural planet and what are we doing to fix it? Most industrial
companies now have moved overseas, the problems still exists, even if
we can't see it or if it's not in the country. The picture and sound
are a little rough, but that is in part from the average of the
sources. Meryl Streep, Robert Redford and Ashley Judd are among the
narrators. Extras include timeline of the Environmental Movement and
Resource Guide.
