Sophia
is professor of history, is always logical, believing in reason and
with her daughter Helena has just moved into a new apartment, but
they aren't alone as it would seem. T,heir new home hides a terrible
and dark secret. After Helena looses her teeth, a mysterious tooth
fairy always comes for her teeth. At first, Sophia thought it was
her imagination, but soon realizes something is possessing her
daughter and she begins seeing things too. As they struggles to find
out the past to break the curse, the truth might be darker than
anyone knew...
Christian
Bisceglia and Ascanio Malgarini co-directed The
Haunting oF Helena
(2012) and somehow keep this one together enough to make it work in
the script's own logic. This includes the build-up as Sophia begins
seeing the ghost of a dead toothless woman and child. Searching for
her tooth, the ghost possesses her daughter Helena, and is willing to
kill anyone in the way. As Sophia tries to uncover the past, she
discovers the first of many horrible secrets that will alter their
lives and they will have to fight to survive.
This
was a great horror movie, with just the right amount of horror,
special effects and scary truths and back story, with each new piece
of the tale the story takes an unexpected twist and horror. All is
even more horrible is when no one believes you and yet nothing can
stop it. Not bad at all and an Italian film making its U.S. debut on
DVD.
The
anamorphically enhanced image and lossy Dolby Digital sound are as
good as they are going to get, which makes one wonder why this is not
on Blu-ray too. Extras include behind the scenes, cast and crew
interview, special effects breakdown and trailer.
