Fraggle Rock – Meet The Fraggles (Gaiam Vivendi DVD)

Are you ready to dance your cares away? Or perhaps you just don’t care. Either way here for another installment on DVD is Fraggle Rock.  There have been a multitude of releases on DVD centering on The Fraggles; ranging from full season sets (all now available) to single disc releases which house select episodes.  This DVD release is the later.

 

Fraggle Rock: Meet the Fraggles is a single DVD release that features 6 episodes from the now classic Jim Henson series.  These six episodes are nothing new to Fraggle aficionados, but to new comers and young children this is a nice taste of what Fraggle Rock has to offer.

 

The six episodes take examples of the best episodes from season one and two and include them here; one of which is the first episode ever.

 

Overall, a nice little taste though I would recommend buying the entire series.  The episodes included are as follows:

1.      Beginnings

2.      We Love You Wembley

3.      Boober’s Dream

4.      Red’s Club

5.      Mokey and the Minstrels

6.      Gobo’s Discovery

 

The technical features are the same as those on the previous releases.  The picture is presented in a 1.33 X 1 full screen image that looks pretty shabby as it was shot originally on video and has not fared well over the years.  The colors are far from bright, the image is a tad grainy and the blandness is unsurprisingly unsatisfying as detail is somewhat lacking.  The sound is a simple Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track that sounds crisp, clear and boisterous as dialogue sounds fine and the musical numbers shine through.
