This is the Seventh Season (running
from 2009-2011) for SpongeBob
Squarepants and whereas I would love to say the series is as fresh as ever,
it simply is not. It is hard enough to
keep live action series afloat for 7 seasons let alone an animated one. The
Simpsons even after 20 some years feeling stale.
What SpongeBob does have
going for it is what it had all along; its wacky, nonsensical brand of
humor. This larger than life personality
starring in a world with no rules or boundaries allows the writers and
animators free range to do whatever they want.
There is no task too big or too small for this underwater creature and
his crew.
The shows remains light hearted without much continuity, allowing
audiences to pick up the series at any point.
The series continues to cater to both children and adults alike. Even if recent studies show that Spongebob may be contributing to our
countries A.D.D. (like cell phones dont?), I find the series to amazingly
intelligent with its quick wit, referential insightfulness, and overall comedic
timing.

The picture is presented again in a Full Frame image that
continues to improve with each passing season. The colors remain bright
throughout with a crisp, clean image that makes for an overall great viewing
experience. The sound again is a simple Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo that
gets the job done, but mainly caters to the dialogue and adds little
atmosphere. The sound is crisp and boisterous throughout.
