High School (2010/Anchor Bay Blu-ray)

Picture: B     Sound: C     Extras:  C     Film: B

Henry Burke is the smartest boy in the school, but after his first hit of Marijuana, his Principal has order a mandatory school-wide drug test and anyone who is tested positive for drugs will be kicked out.  Now in danger of being kicked out and losing his MIT scholarship, he teams up with the school stoner to come up with a crazy way to beat the system.  Spiking the school brownies and get everyone high, and if everyone is high they can't kick everyone out, can they?... All they have to do is steal a drug dealer's stash and not get caught in the process in High School.

Henry and Breaux were once childhood friends, but went separate ways as a valedictorian and a stoner.  After briefly renewing their friendship over a joint, everything Henry has worked for fall into jeopardy when principal wants to get rid of anyone involved with drugs.  Now his only hope is to follow Breaux's crazy plan to spike everyone drug test, but it gets even crazier when the teacher are all high and tripping, and the drug dealer finds out they stole his stash comes gunning for them.

This was a laughable comedy about drugs and living life.  While the main character lives a perfect life he learns sometimes you have to take chances in life or you miss out something in life.  While he resents getting into trouble and crime, he learns that friendship sometimes means taking a hit for a friend, but not to say this film encourages young kids to take drugs or get high, but taking away freedom of choice and of privacy is even worst crime.

Matt Bush, Colin Hanks, Adrien Brody, Michael Chiklis, Yeardley Smith and Curtis Armstrong star and it looks fine enough in its 1080p presentation.  Too bad the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound is not particularly dynamic.  Extras include commentary with producer and director, deleted scenes and trailers.
