While
just meeting through friends for just one night, Nate (Steve Guttenberg) and
Jenny never thought their paths would meet again so soon. When Nate gets fired from his job and decides
to try and write a novel, and Jenny's fiancé ends up dead and needs to get away
from relatives and family, they both end up as roommates. Needing a break from reality they support and
romance in each other in more ways than one... sometimes happiness is just
unexpectedly around the corner in A
Novel Romance.
Nate is
broke and in need of a roommate to help pay rent and Jenny needs a change of
scenery after the passing of her fiancé. When both of them end up together and Nate
sets down his 'ten commandments', especially their tenth commandment, to not
fall for one another… but rules are meant to be broken, and as Jenny breaks all
the rules she inspires Nate to write his book, Nate provides the sensitive care
and loving Jenny needs... all this with no strings attached. When they end up realizing their true
feelings are will they break their last rule and still able to just be
roommates?
It's a
Steve Guttenberg film, what do you expect, can you imagine him not getting the
girl (and into his bed) in the end? Two
characters put together, a lonely girl in need of a man + a penniless writer
want to be, you do the math. After the two characters
after they lose settle for next best thing, finding a roommate with benefits.
While comical and amusing, in the end
the two characters come to understand not only each other but themselves,
showing love can happen unexpectedly and without any rules. Extras include commentary with Steve Guttenberg,
Director and Producers, Director's introduction and deleted scenes.
