Ai Yori Aoshi 1 – Fate (Animé TV)

Another
acceptable entry in the “Animé for young ladies” department is Ai Yori Aoshi, in what seems to be a
second series surrounded by characters that are most young and female, with the
occasional male love interest. Whether
the previous show was good or not, and all seem to be available on DVD, this is
not bad. IT deals with their loves,
dislikes, and discomforts, though the storyline eventually turns to their
living space being haunted.
That is
the humorous last of the fo9llowing four shows:
1)
Spring Blossom
2)
Friends
3)
Tennis
4)
Phantom
The third
show is particularly amusing. The show
is supposed to be for ages 13 and up, but a few passing sexual references that
seem to be placed as to be ignored are still a bit too racy for those in the
know, so an older age group for starters (maybe 18ish) is more like it. Though aimed at a female audience, it is not
intolerable for males, but young boys would get very bored.
The full
frame, color image is purposely soft in parts and is color consistent, but
there is still softness throughout. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has Pro Logic-type surrounds in both English and
slightly clearer Japanese. Extras
include the bonus Miyuki episode and
previews for three Geneon Animé DVDs.
The extra show has all the same specs as the regular shows and is a sort
of Christmas episode, more or less.
Together, that is five shows that have their moments for one of the
lighter entertainments in Animé.
