In the
near future the earth has been decimated by an unknown virus, turn all into
undead zombies. The surviving humans can only live in domed cities, armed
militias in biosuits will shoot any found out in the open, but there only a
handful of children who are immune and these children carry the hopes and fears
of all...
Jorge
Olguin’s Descendents (2008) revisits
overly familiar territory. Consider the
following: A young girl, Camille was
born into a world of chaos. She had only
heard in stories of times when humans play outside. Journeying with her mother she learns how to
survive, to avoid humans who want to capture her, dissect and study her. The children who were born immune the zombies
would not attack them but instead protect them.
Camille has flashbacks of her mother telling her to find other children
who are like her and make the journey to the sea where they would be safe.
This was
a reverse zombie movie, it took the perspective of a young child. The humans in the story were more monsters
than the zombies, they would rather dissect and dismember reproductive organs
to find a cure for themselves. The film
was in a constant different hue and had a fake CG sky line of a ruined
city/world. In the end reveal that the
new generation of surviving children had blue skin and traveled to the sea
because there was a gigantic zombie leviathan that would protect them. At least they tried something different, but
this genre is just too played out.
Extras
include making of the film, trailers and music video.
