Yakuza Weapon (2011/Well Go USA
Blu-ray + DVD)
Picture: B-/C Sound: B/B- Extras: C Film: C+
Shozo is
the toughest Yakuza in Japan, after the death of the Yakuza boss (his father)
he comes back to get revenge on man who betrayed him, Kurawaki, but after a
battle against helicopter machine guns and rocket launchers, Shozo is rebuilt
with a Vulcan on his right arm and rocket launcher in his knee. Now Shozo is ready to take on whatever
Kurawaki has for him, from killer nurses with machine guns to cybernetic penis
implants!
This is comically shocking Yakuza comedy. Shozo is a returned Yakuza with his two
lackeys who wants some payback and then some. He believes he is the toughest son of a gun
(literally) and all you need is guts. He'll
fight with anything and anyone with arm canon and rocket launcher, as he
quickly learns how to use his new appendages he'll fight Kurawaki's legions of
drugged up super zombies to naked cybernetic girls shooting out of all their
orifices. The only thing that scares him
is his Yakuza wife-to-be
Yakuza Weapon is like pulp science
fiction mixed with Kill Bill,
of a crazy yakuza story on crack. Be
warned, it is filled with crazy fights, obscenities, blood splatters,
dismemberments, and sexual deviances. If
you think American and European pulp fiction is bad, then wait till you see
this film. Once again, the Blu-ray
exceeds the picture and sound quality from Well Go USA in more notable ways
than many of these combo packs usually do, but both are here just the same,
though a Blu-ray on a home theater system is the best way to watch. Extras include DVD, behind the scenes,
deleted scenes, spin-off short 'Takuzo Weapon' and trailers, but I wished there
were more all around. Still, the curious
should check it out.
