Ryu is a
fish market girl by day, but a contracted killer by night. He is hired by Japanese business man to kill
David, a Spaniard who runs a wine shop in Tokyo.
David caused his girlfriend (Japanese
business man's daughter) to commit suicide, but when Ryu meets David, she
becomes inflamed by his passion and his wine, leading to dates, outings and
eventually several sexual encounters in a hotel. What will Ryu decide? Trapped between her own lustful desires or her
contract to end David's life she must choose... To love him or to kill
him?
Map Of The Sounds Of Tokyo is
artistic, dramatic film. Ryu is young and beautiful woman, but emotionless
killer at the same time. Seeking nothing
she works both her day job and night job as if it was simple as breathing, it
makes no difference what her job is in life. One day, one life is not any better or
different from the other. But when she meets a man who lights her fire, she
begins to feel for the first time, but can she really change herself? Ryu is watched over by her friend as he notes
her change in personality and emotions, and he wonders if she really is in
love or only fooling herself.
This was an interesting film. In this film of Tokyo, the only thing consistent is
business men are corrupt, women want to find love, and the foreign men
just want to have sex. The theme of the
film is nothing changes, in the end no one escape their own nature. The two main characters are caught up in
romance fantasy, but when reality catches up and in a brutal world of beautiful
lies and deceit is one moment of passion enough to change them? While the film is beautiful in
capturing various aspects, life, and sounds of Tokyo,
the film explores a twisted love story which hints of
its existence in the dark alleys and hotel rooms of Tokyo. Extras include behind the scenes and trailer.
