A weak
cycle of bad teen dramas have been showing up of late and while none have been
big hits save the “Danceploitation” films, Pascal Franchot’s Triple Dog (2009) is a lame, silly tale
of how a sleep-over turns into a series of embarrassments, disasters and young
ladies daring each other to be stupid.
Think of it as “lie and dare” as it putzes along as everyone in the film
leaves their brain elsewhere, much like the persons who made this mess.
Brittany
Robertson is being pushed as the star here, but it is Scout Taylor Compton (The Runaways, reviewed elsewhere on
this site) with the real acting credibility and the cast has little chemistry
or little to offer in what is almost a total embarrassment of a wreck of a
feature and Writer Barbara Marshall (whose previous credit apparently is a
forgettable episode of the highly overrated Stargate SG-1) wants to sensationalize everything and is more
interested in capitalizing on predatory behavior and “reality TV’ than writing
a story about real human beings. Yes,
this really does lives up to its name by being as bad in at least three
ways. Without the actors having
potential barely realized here, you could trash this thing altogether.
The 1080p
1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image was shot in HD and has plenty of motion
blur and color issues throughout, while the DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) 5.1
lossless mix (not credited on the case, making that three Blu-rays in a row for
which Well Go USA did not offer proper information) is also weak and has
location audio issues (intended and unintended), is dialogue based and when Hip
Hop music and soundtrack music kicks in, is awkward and can overshadow the
dialogue. A mess all around, extras
include a trailer and Deleted Scenes that look as bad as the rest of this mess.
