Final 24 Hours Series (Hunter S.
Thompson/Marvin Gaye/River Phoenix/MVD Visual DVDs)

The
episodes of the very mixed Final 24
series continue to find their way to DVD and though more than a little of the
material is problematic and suspect, the show is somewhat close enough to the
tales it tells of famous names no longer with us that it remains a viable
show. Here is my general opinion of the
series and the previously released DVDs, which have the same picture and sound
quality across all editions:

The new
volumes cover three famous artists, two of whom are legends (singer Marvin
Gaye, writer Hunter S. Thompson) and the other (River Phoenix) who would have
become a great actor and probably big commercial success had he survived. These are three of the more interesting releases
to date and not an insult to fans of those departed. Diehard fans might not be happy with this,
but they are watchable for the most curious.
There again are no extras.
