Dr. Alice
Roberts is a science and nature expert who knows about many things, including
the human race and evolution. It is one
thing to talk about evolution, but another to show how palpable it is and what
it is all about. The Incredible Human
Journey is the latest BBC
mini-series to explore the sciences by going around the world to prove its
points.
The five
installments include Out Of Africa, Australia,
Europe, Asia and The Americas as
she traces how the human species moved form the single content of Africa and expanded worldwide, but how did the diversity
and population happen? How did we get to
be so different while still staying somewhat the same? In the nearly five hours, she does a good job
answering some of these questions and suggesting new ones and except for the
slap-dash approach of the current TV style this did not need, this is very good
viewing and worth a look.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image was shot on what looks like a 1080i HD
format camera(s) resulting in motion blur and other flaws, including detail
issues, so the image is mixed on all shows, but color can be good and the
cameramen get some interesting shots. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is fine for what it is with some location audio issues
occasionally, some harshness in its loud music, quick edit style at times and
some slight edge overall, but is what you would expect from this kind of
program. There are no extras.
