For those
wanting to catch up, you can get the entire 21 Jump Street
series on DVD from Mill Creek, the company currently holding issuing
rights. We have covered all four seasons
of the show in previous reviews and we can finally pull them altogether here
thanks to this new Complete Series
DVD set. If you are no familiar with the
show that was the first hit for the Fox Network and helped introduce Johnny
Depp to the public, here are the links:

The 1.33
X 1 image and Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo sound is about the same for all the
sets, including the older and out-of-print Anchor Bay
versions. Though the show was hot on
35mm film, it was finished on analog videotape (see those old credits) and that
is why they are softer than they should be, so Cannell is going to have to go
and retransfer the original film elements (guess he still ahs those) and redo
the credits in HD if he ever wants to have them on Blu-ray. This is about as good as they are going to
look, though the aliasing, digititis and other image issues should not be here.
Sadly,
none of the extras from the older version are on these new editions, but that
is just another reason to think of a Blu-ray release, which would give them an excuse
to do more extras. Unless you want to
hunt down good copies of the older releases or actually wait for Blu-ray, this
set will more than do.
