Bad is
bad and one of the unacknowledged cycles that has been one of the worst in
recent years is what we could call the “be an ignorant brat” cycle. It takes the desire of the young to be their
selves and channels it into being angry fools instead of doing anything that
resembles being productive or smart, as the recent Kick Ass demonstrated as it bombed.
Krissanapong Rachata’s Power
Kinds (2009) is almost as obnoxious and I guess we can blame those Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers for some
of this.
So how
bad is this? Listen to this dumb
plot. Terrorists run a hospital (those
guys!) and when a group of friends has someone they care for in need of a heart
transplant (it happens all the time), four of them break into this rogue
hospital to steal a human heart for a transplant.
Yup, you
read that correctly.
The
script dopes not suggest they do the transplant themselves, leaving the ailing
child in a legitimate hospital, so the writers do not make this an Our Gang/Little Rascals adventure.
But anything resembling entertainment here is nonexistent and light
years away from that series of classic comedy shorts. A reactionary mess, with an R-rating (!), what
kind of an audience was this made for?
The 1080p
1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is pretty much shot in High Definition
video and is another really poor presentation like some others we have run into
lately. What a mess! The DTS-HD MA (Master Audio) lossless 5.1
mixes in Thai and English are poor, show the low budget limits and barely have
any kind of soundfield. The combination
shows we did not need a Blu-ray version.
Extras include behind the scenes footage and a making of featurette,
both with no point.
