Definition format: Highlights of Blu-ray software titles
Picking up in the U.S. and a boom in countries like Germany, Blu-ray
continues to prove itself to be superior to everything from downloads to
regular DVD players upscaling in vein to cable, satellite and download services
wrongly claiming they have Blu-ray quality.
None can match the 1080p High Definition digital format for its amazing
picture and in the types of incredibly high quality sound (DTS HD MA lossless,
Dolby True HD lossless, PCM lossless) that those services and regular DVD can’t
offer. Here is our list of some of the
best titles in the format to date, which we update all the time, but please
note that titles in the Classical, Opera and Dance genres are often done as several
in one review, so be sure to look those up separately from Naxos distribution. We are now covering import Blu-rays all the
time (usually compatible with all U.S. players) and releases in the
